Teaching and services

Work takes several forms, depending on the audience, the programme and the objectives. It is aimed first at higher-education institutions, training organisations and technical teams. Support for higher-education students complements a scientific or computing degree programme.

Arrangements, content and level are defined according to the need, with the programme leader, the institution or the organisation.

01

Lectures and exercise classes

Teaching on scientific or computing modules in higher education. A lecture sets out definitions, assumptions and lines of reasoning. Exercise classes put them to work on problems and on more open situations.

  • Lectures: place a concept, its range of validity and its role in the module.
  • Exercise classes: solve problems while making the method explicit, not only the result.
  • Application exercises: connect a course result to a calculation or a given situation.
  • Case studies: start from a more open problem, close to a technical situation.
  • Preparation and structuring of teaching content, before or during the intervention.

02

Practical sessions and projects

Putting theoretical concepts into practice. A practical session confronts an idea with a realisation: a program, a simulation, a signal or an exchange on a network.

  • Programming exercises, from a fragment of code to a small structured program.
  • Modelling and simulation, to observe how a model behaves and where it stops.
  • Development of small software projects, with a need, a structure and a check.
  • Signal analysis, from the representation of the data to an interpretation.
  • Implementation of networking and telecommunications concepts.

03

Design of teaching materials

Designing or improving materials, when an institution wants to clarify a progression, renew exercises, or connect a science course to a computing implementation.

  • Structured course materials, with a through-line and an ordered set of ideas.
  • Progressive exercises, from first steps to more open questions.
  • Solution notes that make the expected method explicit.
  • Practical assignments, ready to be adapted to the equipment and the timetable.
  • Presentation materials, for a course or a training session.
  • Case studies and applied projects.

04

Individual support

Focused support for higher-education students, alongside a programme they are already following. The work addresses an identified need: a concept, a method of solution, an exam, or a scientific or computing project.

  • Clarifying concepts and returning to definitions when the course moved too quickly.
  • Working through exercises methodically, and checking the result.
  • Preparing for exams, from the programme and the known expectations.
  • Strengthening fundamentals that block the rest of the module.
  • Support on scientific or computing projects.

05

Technical training

Training shaped for a team or an organisation that wants to go further into a scientific or computing subject useful to its work. The starting level and the examples are chosen with the participants.

  • Object-oriented programming: classes, responsibilities and interfaces.
  • Software design: requirements, modelling and the structure of an application.
  • Architecture and structuring of applications.
  • Scientific fundamentals required by a technical discipline.

Who the work is for

The format changes with the client. Level, programme and time constraints are part of the preparation.

Higher-education institutions

Engineering schools, universities, specialist institutions and training organisations. The work may strengthen a teaching team, take on a course, run lectures, exercise classes or practical sessions, or cover a specialist subject.

Programme leaders and teachers

Designing or updating a module, structuring a progression, and developing exercises and case studies. An intervention can also bring computing applications into a science course and connect theory, modelling and practice.

Higher-education students

Going further in a scientific or computing subject, clarifying a difficult idea, preparing for exams, solving problems and strengthening fundamentals. The support is specialised and complements a degree programme.

Organisations and technical teams

Going deeper into scientific or computing concepts, training in software design, making sense of engineering methods, and developing the technical skills of a team.

Discuss a teaching or training project

A course, practical sessions, teaching materials, team training or individual support can be shaped from the audience, the subject, the level and the setting.
